Barcelona keeper Ter Stegen will now be out for seven to eight months. This happens after he sustained knee injury after he landed on his knee during Villarreal match with Barcelona.
What happened?
At the end of the first half, Marc Ter Stegen rushed to catch midair corner kick when he landed awkwardly on his knee and this lead to the referee halting the match for minutes. Ter Stegen was unable to continue the match and late alone walk of the pitch so he was carried off the pitch on a stretcher. Now his injury is said to be an ACL injury same as what Thibaut Courtois, Madrid goalkeeper faced last year which left him out for the whole season.
Barcelona posted that the Germany international will on Monday afternoon undergo a surgery.
Despite, Ter Stegen’s injury, Barcelona won their match 5-1 and remained on top of the la Liga table
How will Ter Stegen’s injury cost Barcelona?
Barcelona have been performing very well under new manager Hansi Flick and were depending on Ter Stegen in the goal post. Ter Stegen is a very fantastic goalkeeper who had made numerous saves, conceded 18goals and had 28 clean sheets last season.
