News; Southampton set to miss their captain, Jack Stephens’ suspension has be extended by another match ahead and he will miss the clash between the gunners.

What happened?

Referee, Stuart Attwell issued a red card to Stephens during Manchester United vs Southampton on September 14 following the tackle he made on Alejandro Garnacho. Therefore, the Southampton defender receive three-match ban for the red card which ended after missing out Southampton games against Ipswich Town, Everton and Bournemouth.

Why is Stephens’ extended by two more matches?

after review, Jack Stephens’ language towards the referee and fourth official Gavin Ward was considered insulting (defying Law 12: Fouls and Misconduct IFAB Laws of the Game 2024-25) and an independent Regulatory Commission had execute the sanctions therefore the English Football Association (FA) has decided that Southampton captain has to be fined £50,000 and also serve an extra ban for 2 more games.

The Southampton captain wrote to the FA Regulatory Commission to apologies for his behavior and the way he conducted himself.
